Young Entrepreneur Series – Kids F.A.C.E.

February 29, 2012

This is the letter that started it all!!!

Kids F.A.C.E. (Kids For A Clean Environment) is an international children’s environmental organization started in 1989 by 9 year-old Melissa Poe of Nashville, Tennessee. F.A.C.E. stands for “For a Clean Environment”.

The club was established to provide a way for children to be involved in the protection of nature and connect them with other children who shared their concerns about global environmental issues.

What inspired Melissa? She saw an episode of Highway to Heaven with Michael Landon. He said, “It’s not too late. People who care will Do something!”

Melissa was a person who cared! So she created Kids F.A.C.E. which currently has 300,000 members worldwide, and together they’ve planted over a million trees!

Kids F.A.C.E. members created the world’s largest environmental flag – measuring 100′ x 200′ – to symbolize the concerns youth have about nature and the future world. The Flag was unveiled during the twenty-fifth celebration of Earth Day in Washington, D.C.
