Young Entrepreneur Series – Unite for Sight

December 13, 2011

Jennifer Staple was 18 years old when Unite for Sight was invented. Unite For Sight, an organization founded in 2000 in Staple’s dorm room at college, is dedicated to preventing blindness through free community vision screenings, public education about eye disease and the importance of regular eye exams to prevent blindness, a speaker series, and an eyeglass drive. Now Jennifer is 30, and she has grown the organization to be a global nonprofit organization that has provided eye care to 1,300,000 people in North America, Africa, and Asia.

Vision screening and vision education programs are conducted at local community centers, including schools, soup kitchens, and libraries. Unite for Sight is also committed to supporting those community members with deteriorating vision through community assistance.

Jennifer has grown the organization to include: investing human and financial resources, Global Impact Fellows, Global Health & Innovation Conference, Global Health University, and Community Health Chapters.
