Poppy King was 18 years old when she founded Poppy Industries, Lipstick Queen.
Ever go to the store and realize what you want isn’t even on the market? Well, Poppy King did and eventually did something about it. When she couldn’t find the lipstick she wanted, she realized other women may have a similar problem. At the age of 18, she found her first cosmetics company Poppy Industries, which became a huge hit in Australia, earning her the Young Australian of the Year award in 1995.
Although the company eventually dissolved in 2002, after its tempestuous launch in the United States, King is still a fixture in the cosmetic industry, serving as a consultant for Estee Lauder and forming a new company.
